The Sanskrit meaning of the nakshatra of Purva Ashadha is Invincible. This nakshatra is ruled by the deity Apah who is the ruler of cosmic waters. The deity Varuna who is the Lord of the ocean is also associated with this nakshatra. Water is one of the most important elements we require for our survival. Water is also used for purification and is an essential element in the pujas. There is a story where Valmiki heard that Hanuman wrote his Ramayana scribbled on the rocks with his nails. Valmiki was curious and asked Hanuman about it. Hanuman took him to the rocks where he delightedly read his works. He was overwhelmed by reading his work and became quiet for a moment. Hanuman asked him what was wrong. Valmiki replied that it was so wonderful and devotional that his own work which took him 12years was nothing compared to him.
